7 tips for teaching boys about girls

Link

I have three little boys. Since they are young and we are pretty casual around here, there has been a lot of little boy nudity over the last several years. As such, there has been no question about what makes a boy, well… a boy. In fact, I didn’t give much thought to the topic at all until one of my boys asked me, “What makes you a girl, Mommy?”

Read how Gina Denny, homeschooling mum of 3, approached this topic ….

Enjoy.  Cx

Homemade Non-Toxic Sunscreen Lotion Bars

Ingredients

Directions

Combine the shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax in a glass bowl placed over a hot pot of water or use a double boiler. Heat on low until the ingredients are melted and full incorporated. Remove from heat and stir in the zinc oxide, the essential oil, and the vitamin E oil. Pour into silicon molds and place in the fridge to cool for about 30 minutes. Pop out and store in tins or an airtight container. Store at room temperature.

Notes:

  • These will melt in the hot sun. I plan to cut off a small piece to take with me to the pool or the beach and carry it in an airtight container. Once back indoors it will solidify again.
  • I have received questions about how to apply. You simply rub all over your body while holding in your hand. The texture is firm but emollient and it will feel like a lotion – not soap. You can rub it in further with your hands.

Powerful Super Moon – Cathy Pagano

1013889_293332344141958_1601450414_nPowerful Super Moon June 23, 2013 | Cathy Pagano

This Capricorn Full Moon is the second of three SuperMoons, so-called because the Moon is at perigee (it’s closest to Earth) and syzygy (it’s in alignment with the Sun), intensifying its effect on the Earth and on humans. The full Moon’s energy is also amplified by it occurring so close to the Solstice.

…There is hope that the most positive energies will be invoked during this Capricorn/ Cancer full Moon because the planets form a unique pattern in the sky. That aspect is called a kite…

The kite is very dynamic, and often indicates success (those positive energies)… This kite is comprised of our water grand trine—Sun in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces—plus the Capricorn Moon. A water grand trine seeks tranquility and peaceful exchange. It opens us to the subtle energies of the unconscious and to our feelings. We become more psychic because we’re attuned to the emotional flow around us.

The Sun in Cancer seeks a stable emotional body, one that is capable of giving and receiving love. This Sun consciously supports Saturn’s task of cleaning up our Scorpio’s tendency to hang onto negative feelings and brood about them. Choice becomes possible if we trust our real feelings. Then we add Neptune in Pisces to the mix, which opens us to spiritual potentials and visions that can heal our beliefs about ourselves and each other.

This grand trine can help us align our feelings with our soul’s mission and open us to a new story that will help us confront the financial, political and environmental issues facing us. The Capricorn Moon then will pick up on our needs and our visions and find ways to get us the support and nurturing we need for our projects.

Anyone with planets in the early degrees of water signs and Capricorn will be especially attuned to this full Moon…

Amazing … good days, bad days …always seeing the positive …. and CAKE!

Women are amazing!  Yes we truly are and believing in one’s self is the first step in feeling positive about life and the Universe. We all have good days, bad days and those days where we really wished we hadn’t got out of bed let alone got out the wrong side!

Inspirational days are what bouy me up with love, hope and a positive belief that there are some very beautiful human beings in this world.  On days like this I want to go out into the world and be everywhere with everyone and just spread the love and joy I feel in my heart.  I want to touch and be touched by the joy I see in others when they have a magic moment where a connection or light bulb has flickered on.  It’s moments like those that I just love.

I feel inspired by the women (& families) I have the privilege to meet.  We all face challenges whether they be small or large but they are important to US and knowing that we have a wonderful community to share these and know that we will be nurtured, receive an abundance of empathy and lots of hugs is very important.

I read somewhere recently that if you hug for 20 seconds or more then there is this wonderful release of oxytocin … as a family we have lots of family hugs on a regular basis – we always have … but I have started to gently count in my head and won’t relinquish any of my precious family because I want them to feel the love ….

What about those who don’t like to be hugged or who find the invasion in their personal space very challenging – sometimes the lightest of touches can be the first step.  Whenever I place my hands I always seek permission I don’t want to invade that space but feel that I am welcomed into it.  I try to never break contact when I massage so that if I “suddenly” reconnect that I do not disturb the space the receiver is in.  We do the same with our nurturing touch with our babies and remain connected whilst massaging them or using calming techniques … always sharing a positive environment.

Thank you to you all who share the space created when we get together, always nurturing & being nurtured, loved & loving, sharing & caring … it’s very precious in our hectic lives and the balance that some of us seek … to cupcakes, families and lots of cups of inspiration

Coping strategies

Coping strategies for empaths and sensitives

The natural instinct is to dive in and heal everyone, this often take priority over healing of yourself. You cannot heal others from a point of pain, once you have crossed the bridge in your personal healing then you have the energies and authenticity to empower others over their own bridge.
Empaths tend to tune into the energies of pain and suffering, raise your vibration and transform others from the higher vibration not one on a lower or equal frequency.
Allow others more self responsibility.
Practice the art of being transparent, energies then flow through you rather than stick on you.
Connect to the source before you heal others, otherwise burn out is a possibility, fill yourself up before feeding others. The days of sacrifice are over.
Have alone time to recharge your batteries.
It’s ok to say NO
Empaths can come under psychic attack, don’t engage those energies, they are used to light being hurled at them. Try giving them a smile instead.
Love yourself as much as you love others
It’s ok to receive.
Please share this post if you feel others would benefit from it.

Rotavirus

I have to say I don’t take this one lightly … our Matti when he was 10 months old went down with this and I have to say that brand new recently laid carpets in out loft conversion came of the worst for wear!!!

Hospitalised for 24 hours and having to not feed him was a nightmare …. we never stopped his milk as we should have been advised to and hence the lining of his tummy was damaged …. I have never smelt poos that were like vinegar before but they were and still can be a prominent feature of our little ones bowel movements.

Social media, marketing & clients

Owning a business … can be frustrating & scary at certain moments but so fulfilling, I absolutely love it.  I was sitting contemplating our business and thought about how we have changed, developed and grown.  We started off initially with weight management products and then branched out into massage, the Bowen Technique, there was one of us to start (my husband) then I joined him to look after our clients the business developed further then my husband took a back seat finally leaving the business to do his own thing …. what ever that might be.  Yes we do talk but he has a few balls in the air …

So Mummies Birth Buddy became Ripple Effect Yoga at the start of 2013 and when I think back to the way we use to market our business we have progressed so much.  Social media wasn’t the in thing back in the dark ages – early 2002 so we relied heavily on yellow pages, word of mouth, specialist advertising, flyers … even chatting to people on the busy town centre streets (which completely freaked me out – I remember I had to be rescued by said husband and taken to The Fish for a drink!)  It was just too much and harked back to my Masters days when I was doing my surveys (in London & Barcelona – so yes in Spanish) for my thesis.  I really didn’t enjoy that aspect of my research.

But with the advent of social media we have so many pathways to promote what we do, you just have to juggle these now so currently there is a “Facebook” ball, an “email” ball, a “website” ball, a “Twitter” ball (oh no don’t do that very regularly), a “magazine advertising” ball all up there somewhere gently swirling around plus the “word of mouth” ball.
What works … who knows I get reports from advertising that tell me I have had x number of impressions or hits … when I changed the website recently I was told that counters were really old fashioned but I “like to see who has visited the site” —— “well we have this tool that you can use to see that” – I was told …. okay so I have come from the dark ages into the modern era but certainly not fighting and screaming as I know that the first impression I make on a client is the information they can find on the website.

One client even told me that she had contacted & booked me because of the information I had on my site compared to others who had very little; she felt confident that I knew my stuff.  Wow what a compliment and thank you.  But it highlighted to me the importance of making a good first impression.

I love dabbling and since we started our own business I have always designed our websites primarily using dreamweaver for many years and more recently making the transition to WordPress – which I have to say is great.  I love the widgets (apps to the Apple-lies amongst us) and the fact that I can move bits and pieces around, password protect the client areas and tweak things here and there and update it so quickly & easily plus it’s fool proof.  I had an email conversation with a Widget developer and they kept telling me that I was doing something wrong as it should be installing properly.  I was shouting at the screen and in the end I was told by my husband that I should go for a walk.  It turned out I was doing it correctly but their software had a glitch!  So I was asked to upload the newest version …. sorry to say I deleted the said widget because I found an easier way to do what I wanted to plus I wasn’t comfortable with the support I had received.  So not always fool proof!

We have these wonderful lightweight portable gadgets …. back in the very dark ages I remember using big clumpy computers and printers that had to be housed in a special unit with a lid because they were so noisy – yes I know I am old … well not that old.   Technology has come on leaps and bounds and it makes me wonder how we will be marketing our business in 10 years time.  I think there are those that love the gadgets and others who use them because it’s a necessary evil.  I love my gadgets as they help me to keep in touch with my clients and future clients.  I can’t wait to see where we are going with the tools of social media and marketing.
