Her teaching spans various subjects such as Physical Education & Sport, Child Care, Maths, IT, and Core skills.

Commencing as a Personal Tutor in 2000, Claire embarked on this journey after having her first child and subsequently home-educating her second, who is now enrolled in a post-16 course.

It’s worth noting that Claire holds an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as the CRB) certification, ensuring a commitment to safety and security in her educational endeavors.

Positive Learning Environment

Your child experiences a learning environment distinct from traditional schooling – it’s structured, paced, and tailored to their individual learning styles. Considerable preparation is invested in delivering the class, taking into account your child’s specific needs and sourcing additional resources when necessary. This involves constant review, adjustment, and exploration of alternative teaching methods to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

Following each class, a weekly summary detailing the covered content and any extension work (homework) is provided. Your child can choose to self-mark their work, or I am available to review it with them, offering a detailed breakdown of attempted questions, guidance on response formatting, and thorough feedback. If there’s evidence of any misunderstandings, we revisit and review that learning area, providing suitable, levelled, and adapted resources as needed.

Claire teaches from The Space. This is a bright airy space used for mixed activities including yoga as well as maths tuition. It is a bespoke space in the garden with underfloor heating, facilities include a bathroom and a kitchen area for refreshments.

Assessments:
If preparing for an examination, regular assessments will be taken to ensure that your your person is working towards the grade they are preparing for.  There is no pressure with this and sometimes the classes don’t even realise they have done an assessment as this could be through the class activity. As we approach the real thing we will do mock exams and one set of these will be completed under exam conditions so that they can experience this before the real thing.
Invigilated sessions will be changed at £8 per student per exam
Marking – a set of 2 mock papers is £45 per student.

Notice period:
1 calendar months notice (30 days) is required  e.g. notice given on the 5th March 2022 finish date 4th April 2022 (30 days notice).  If you give less than 1 months notice fees will be payable.

New terms and conditions have been uploaded as of the 1st June 2023 and emails have been sent to all current clients.

Intensive Revision Courses

Claire is committed to providing tutoring of a high standard, supporting parents and pupils in Northampton and the surrounding area.

A variety of resources are utilised and these will be shared with you.  I may direct you to certain support materials which could be in electronic format, websites, or physically ordering a range of materials to support and develop the learning we do in class.  We may used a games based approach to explore certain topics or to reinforce learning in a topic area.  All work will be differentiated if the class are focusing on e.g. functional skills but some are doing Level 1 whilst other sea doing Level 2.  If this is not working then I may suggest splitting the group to facilitate a more individualised learning pathway.
