Be patient – everyone’s labour is different. Have faith in your body, and your baby. Have faith in the natural process of labour – this is so important.
If you don’t think you will remain calm and confident consider who will be supporting you partner, mother, doula. Choose someone who supports your choices and has confidence in you!
Your VOICE is your continuity of care – can they last the course?
Are they a good Gatekeeper?
What do they need in order to facilitate your needs without being fearful?

Doulas
Having a Doula may be so beneficial for both the birthing person and their birth partner. Everyone needs support irrespective of whichever setting you are choosing to birth in.
Our conversations are changing so I will take this opportunity to say that for those same sex couples please know that you are fully supported. I have had many couples over the years and we all chat about how these videos need to be more inclusive. I listen and cringe when they talk about the birth partner being male or the mother to be being female. I can only hope that as we move forwards more of these changes will be seen in videos like these to be more inclusive. I wholeheartedly agree that a woman supporting a woman is amazing and the energy/intuition/instinct is so second nature that you are the right person to support your partner.
